August is THE month for so many transitions for our kids. Research shows that young children in group settings can spend up to 2/3 of their day in transitions! No wonder they can be overwhelming sometimes. As a provider, there are a lot of way you can help support your kids through transitions. The first way may also be the more challenging way-eliminate as many transitions as possible in your daily schedule. If you can knock out even a few transitions, it can go a long way to making the day easier for your children (and you) to manage. The next way, and the way required for your QRIS applications, is to have plans for all of those transitions. Plans should include transitions from activities to another activity, classroom to another area such as outside, new teachers, new classrooms, and new school environments. That is a lot of planning! Here are some resources if you need ideas or even new ideas:
Challenging Behaviors Resource Library - search transitions in the search bar
Oklahoma Share Services - if you are unfamiliar with our OK Shared Services page, you can watch a recorded webinar by our very own Tracy Hinton
As always, we are here and happy to help. You can reach out to one of us or “push the button” for coaching in the QRIS application here. When you request coaching, you may be assigned a coach from your R&R team or from DHS. If you have a preference, please let us know and we can request that you be assigned to your preferred person.
You can also submit a request for a business consultant to help with your business practices. Once you have business consultant and have completed BOTH steps of the QRIS application, you may be eligible to receive Brightwheel for 3 years for free.
Remember, your QRIS applications to be completed and submitted no later than November 30th to qualify for any of the incentives. There are TWO parts to your application so make sure you do both parts. Again, we are here to help, so don’t hesitate to reach out!
